History

Nervo comes from a cosmic race called “The Helios”. The Helios used to be a race born of Helo until it became a mechanized planet void of life controlled by The Outsiders – an ancient unknown race. Nervo doesn’t remember his real name before The Outsiders took control, but he does have faint memories of his past life. His people believed in a sun god called, Helio, thus naming themselves and their world after such a deity. Unlike Earth, the sun was a constant force. Their bodies were hardened instead of soft tissue like a human’s and had a very dark complexion due to high melanin in the skin – adapting to the planet’s atmosphere. They only experienced night once a year and believed it to be a bad omen. Nervo didn’t have much as his family was considered lower class. They were basically slaves for the upper class citizens of Helo, tilling crops; building monuments, homes, and engineering other facilities to better improve their life of luxury. The poor scrapped up anything they could to survive. Some tried to flee but the upper class made sure to unite all the lands on the planet into a one world sovereign nation. They monitored all of the lower class and knew when a coup d’etat or any other plan to overthrow them was being formed. The lower class had to accept there was no escape from such a dictation.

On the one day the sun took a break and night fell, Nervo and his people prayed to the sun god Helo to deliver his people from slavery. Just then, bright lights in the night sky appeared. Nervo’s people referred to the beings who landed on their planet, “The Outsiders”, as they did not know who or what they were. The Outsiders destroyed the decadent homes of the rich leaving only ash in their wake. Nervo’s people were grateful and hailed them as advocates of the sun god. However, the superstition of night being a bad omen came true as The Outsiders declared Helo as their planet now. They terraformed the planet from the inside out, mechanizing it. They used the planet Helo to create beings of every nature. They experimented with the surviving Helios people and put them into different internment camps called biomes along with other species from different worlds they captured and brought there. They distinguished the biomes by referring to them as different parts of nature. Nervo’s was called the aquatic biome for instance. The biomes were under different project names that each manipulated the DNA of the specimens within it in unique ways. Why The Outsiders did this is unknown.

From what Nervo could tell, his biome was under Project Cerberus. He overheard one of them say it was a term derived from a mythological tale from a planet called Earth. He wondered what it meant, but The Outsiders kept details of their experiments highly classified. He was constantly experimented on in a technological cage-like structure. Before he knew it, he couldn’t recognize his body anymore. A majority of it was replaced with mechanical devices and parts performing the normal functions of what his original organic body did. His family succumbed to the torture, leaving him all alone. He realized they prayed for a miracle but instead, traded one slavery life for another. He grew to curse the sun god along with The Outsiders and vowed to never be a slave to anyone again. One day, one of The Outsiders introduced him to what they called a soul stone. According to their lore, when introduced to the object, it brings out latent abilities of the one who possesses it. Nervo went through excruciating pain after holding it in his palm but was born anew. He developed telekinesis. The Outsiders observed he had the power to influence others after observing countless interactions in his biome with his people. They wanted to exploit that ability for their own purposes.

Nervo was put to the test by combat. With his newfound strength, he used his abilities to read his opponent’s mind while fighting to know how to counter against attacks accordingly. There were Helios people who still fought proudly in The Outsiders name, still seeing them as advocates of their sun god. He was no longer empathetic towards them. In his mind, their blind faith and worship of false idols is what lead them to this endless paradox of misery they were in now. He became ruthless. It didn’t matter what type of ability they possessed, he beat whatever opponent they threw at him. Once he defeated all of the challengers within his biome, The Outsiders made him venture out to other biomes, which had more various types of species within it, to fight them as well. They made a spectacle of it for him to win the admiration of the Helios people. He struck fear and respect into everyone as his reputation grew. His experience in combat made him a master in hand-to-hand, synchronizing it with his telekinesis which he controlled to its pique. Soon, he developed other abilities connected to his power such as altering the perception of what another sees in their mind. By utilizing the soul stone permanently given to him by The Outsiders for showing his merit, it amplified his already terrifying abilities. For instance, illusions he created in someone’s mind could become physical manifestations in the tangible world – real people, places, or things.

The Outsiders saw Nervo as the prodigy they wanted for a being to take over worlds of their choosing, so they could claim it under their rule. Why they want to accomplish such a task remains a mystery. They announced Nervo as Helo’s new god called “Overlord Paragon Nervo” to the now mechanized Helios people. There were those who still held onto hope for the original god of worship and saw him as thesun god reincarnated. He was the perfect tool to be used upon their will as he could control others with his. Nervo soon became the ruler of Helo, with watchful guidance of The Outsiders. Nervo, on the other hand plays the obedient servant well all while waiting for his chance to strike back against The Outsiders to be the sole ruler of the cosmos under no one’s rule ever again.

II. Personality

Nervo is a calm, collected individual who perseveres in patience. He’d rather get to know his target, weaken them and strike when they’re most vulnerable. It is an attribute he developed from fighting countless species on Helo.

His confidence in himself at times leads to the point of arrogance. This causes him to underestimate a few of his enemies.

He develops logical assessments in initiating his plans, so it is full proof once executed. However, The Guardians appear exceptional to this rule.

When things aren’t going his way, he can become angry and chaotic to the point where he will destroy all in his wake just to achieve his goal.

When using the strength of the power stone, three dots in a triangle formation appear on his head.

III. Abilities, Powers, Skills…

Telekinesis grants Nervo the ability to move things with his mind at will. (When in normal state, he can lift huge boulders and vehicles. When amplified with the soul stone, he can lift entire landmasses.)

Mind control gives him the ability to cast illusions in the target’s mind, altering their perception of reality and time. (When in normal state, he can make people see things that are not there. When amplified with the soul stone, he can make illusions tangible things in reality. His favorite illusion to use is one where he makes the recipient feel pain in all of their nerve endings. It at times makes them blackout or gives him the opportune moment to strike.)

His proficiency with hand-to-hand combat weapons such as blades is also something he developed on Helo. Not only can he wield such weapons with precision, but control them with his mind.

He utilizes his psychic ability to read minds during combat. He can see what attack a person will do and react accordingly. This ability makes him nearly untouchable when fighting him.

There are times when he is provoked to fuse the soul stone within his being which causes him a lot of pain, but magnifies his power tenfold even more than holding it. His power strikes unspeakable terror in anyone who dares to oppose him. One time, a race from another planet attempted to fight back but was soon discouraged as Nervo displayed the magnitude of his will. With the soul stone infused, he grabbed chunks of debris from their moon and pulled it down to their planet with his mind, causing meteorites to fall from the sky. The toll it took exhausted him greatly.

Nervo tries to avoid using the soul stone when he can. Though it grants great power, it dishes out fatigue to the current user depending on the level of power used. Initial use brings out a person’s latent abilities. Repeated use of it causes the person to lose a piece of themselves, hence the name.

IV. Allies/ Enemies

One of his allies is named Kel. To the people on Helios, Kel is referred to as “Overseer”. His role unto the people was to monitor them, making sure they were abiding by Nervo’s rule. However, it was quite the opposite. He was there to keep Nervo in line according to The Outsiders’ will. Any policies or regulations they thought of, they told Kel to deliver onto Nervo, so he could delegate the information to his people. Though Nervo is extremely powerful, Kel’s power is to neutralize any affects a soul stone has on another being. As shaky as their alliance is, Nervo must comply if he wants to keep all of his power.

Harbinger is a mysterious ally also created by The Outsiders who he makes an alliance with in the future.

His prime enemies are The Guardians as they are the only group as of yet to resist his attempt to take over a planet. He is especially fond of Aziza and Maximum as they possess abilities that threaten his power. He tried to manipulate them for his own purposes, however he failed in his attempt to do so. Aziza has the ability to control time and warn of imminent dangers while Maximum has limitless potential.

V. Creation and Development

Nervo is a villain created by Tatum Games, developed by Connor Phillips, and expanded upon by Reginald Andah. Nervo was made as a main antagonist for The Guardians to oppose. Through their climactic feud, The Guardian’s abilities as individuals and their unity as a team is driven to the limit as Nervo tries to impose his dark will on the forces of good.

VI. Trivia

When infused with the soul stone, glimpses of his original body can be perceived by whoever looks upon him.

During the years under The Outsider’s rule, he kept the memory of his family and any recollection he had of himself close to his heart to not become insane by the seemingly endless experiments.

His followers refer to him as “Lord Paragon”, “Lord Nervo”, or “Overlord” for short. If any speaks his name without “lord” attached to it, it is considered blasphemous and punishable by law on planet Helo.

The Guardians attempted to take the fight to Nervo when he landed on Earth instead of waiting for his imminent arrival by using Madam Psyche to locate him telepathically. Nervo’s abilities with telepathy far outclassed hers as he was so powerful, she suffered a brain aneurysm just from trying to enter his mind.
