This particular version of “By Fate’s Hand” is a prologue and chapter one to a potential novel that is still in progress I have been working on. It is a magical realism/ science fiction novel. The story was also part of an assignment in one of my courses called “Creative Writing Seminar”. Students were required to turn in either a short story or part of a novel to be reviewed in class by both the professor and peers. The prologue begins with an unknown deity foreshadowing the events of a main character who is a woman chosen to wield a power by the Sisters of Fate. Before that though, the Sisters of Fate conspire against the heavens and rebel by making the instrument the woman will wield to pass judgement. In Chapter one, the woman and other characters are introduced into the story, showing how the woman receives the power.
