I. History
Lady “Toxin” was an orphan born and raised on the streets. To survive, she tailgated homeless people, went to different foster homes, became a thief, and eventually got mixed up with criminal organizations who used her mostly to do their biddings. Due to her circumstance, she never had a name. When she was a girl, people would always call her “young lady”. Her lack of education at the time made her mistake “lady” for her actual first name. She didn’t realize it was a general noun to refer to a woman until she became older. By then, the people she became acquainted with all called her Lady since she told them that was her name, so she let it be.
As a young adult, Lady became more aware with the crowd she hung around. At first, they were just a means to survive, but after contemplating the things they made her do for their own benefit, she became enraged. She wanted the power to take care of herself and take vengeance on the world who abandoned her at birth. After incidentally seeing Mantle take on a mob at night, she was at first terrified of his ability and then became obsessed. She wanted to harness a power like that for herself.
After tailgating him for a time, she caught word of a breakthrough at a local facility he worked security at. She broke in to steal a genetically modified plant which had the ability to alter the very chemistry of a person’s DNA. Ironically, she saw this plant as a second chance to start over – to take back control of her life. Not even she was prepared for the change about to happen to her. The excruciating metamorphosis her body endured was like none other. After forcing a doctor to synthesize the plant’s properties, she ingested it and became one of the world’s most deadliest villains.
II. Personality
Lady “Toxin” views the world as an endless pit of tragedy. Though she was raised by strangers and made criminal associates, she has always felt alone. Because of her abandonment and neglect, she always has the need to announce her presence as “Toxin” to the world, which attracts unwanted attention on her part. Mantle and numerous law enforcement agencies are constantly trying to bring her in. She is one of the top deviants on the most wanted list as she brings terror and destruction in her wake.
There is always a part of her that wants to change for the better. Mantle sees hints of this through their encounters and she uses it to deceive him at times during their fights. But because of Mantle’s understanding words, she sometimes ponders if she really could change. However, her lifestyle of crime is so engraved in her, she doesn’t know how else to carry on without it. This causes her to hate people who never had the struggle she did as she sees them live comfortably in their stable lives.
The inner turmoil within her affects her mental state to the point where she can either kill victims or let them live. This keeps people always on their toes since she is unpredictable. Her experience in executing crimes are as dangerous as her powers. She is several moves ahead when people think they figured out her plan. Her calm and calculating ability to analyze a situation and come up with a solution contradicts her outwardly insane narcissistic behavior; making it near impossible to implement a counter strategy against her.
III. Abilities, Powers, Skills….
Toxin can exhale deadly poisons from her lungs causing Mantle’s skin to rot.
She can control a limited radius of toxins exuding from her body to a certain degree causing plant life to shrivel around her and people to fall ill.
She can suck water from people’s bodies, including Mantle’s, to heal herself.
Due to her rough childhood, she is proficient in hand-to-hand combat. She picked up Krav Maga as a pre-teen at a local community center lead by a cop who appeared innocent, trying to help her get off the streets. Unfortunately, he fell short as his own agenda was revealed. He was a well paid middle man on the side selling orphans to a gang using the local community center as a front.
Her life’s worth of criminal associations made her a near master at executing crimes.
The plant which altered her DNA chemistry also had a side effect, turning Toxin’s skin violet.
IV. Allies/ Enemies
Toxin becomes a willing pawn of Nervo later on. Nervo knew how vulnerable and fragile her mind was. He exploited her weakness and amplified her power. Nervo thought Toxin was a perfect tool to use in enslaving humanity and terraforming the planet for The Outsiders to take control of earth with little resistance. With her amplified abilities, the radius of her toxins expanded to an astronomical degree. She was able to inhale moisture from the very air itself. Hurting her was near impossible as she instantly healed. A single exhale of breath decayed all living things in seconds. She could make continents bow to her whim under an hour. She gladly allied herself with Nervo just to watch the world burn.
Her long time foe, Mantle, did everything in his power to stop her, but the earth around him he used as a weapon rotted as quickly as he could form an attack with it. He soon sought the aid of Slade “Forest Werewolf”and Emeka Idra “The Protector”. Before The Guardians were established, this unlikely trio managed to stop Toxin in her tracks. Slade was weary of humans but decided to help as he cared about nature and plant life. His lifetime in the forest and wild made him immune to most plant-like toxins. The Protector was resistant to her toxins since a huge part of him wasn’t organic. The Protector convinced Slade and Mantle that fate had them meet for a reason as it was their holy mission to protect Earth when others couldn’t. After that day, they became a team known as Earth’s Trinity who works with first emergency responders to prevent catastrophes. They became a force to be reckoned with to Toxin and any other who harmed earth.
V. Creation and Development
Lady “Toxin” is a villainous character from Tatum Games developed by Reginald Andah. Creation of her character was made to be an opposition to the guardian Mantle. Inspiration of her personality and abilities were drawn from well known villains such as DC’s Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
VI. Trivia
Keeping a low-key profile when she is not acting as Toxin is quite difficult due to her violet skin. She experiments with various make-up and masks to conceal her identity.
Because of her terrifying abilities, people also mention her as Death. She later has a cult-like following by people who actually believe she is Death revealing itself to signal the end times.
