 I. History

As record shows, Slade lived peacefully in the rural forests of Northwestern U.S. Rumors spread across the region that a boy was raised by animals. Natives who told of the fable forest boy, called him Slade. Slade didn’t know where the name really came from, but it stuck. His real parents are unknown. He became fond of wolves. A pack accepted him and he was under the mentorship of its leader who he referred to as Alpha Colt.

When Slade got older, Colt revealed Slade was not of the jungle but was originally from man’s world. Slade always wondered as a child why he looked nothing like his animal compatriots who took him in as family. His strange abilities to periodically transform into a large wolf set him apart from normal humans and did not awaken until he was a teenager. Before then, he possessed abilities humans did not such as increased speed, heightened senses, and awareness. Slade was ecstatic at first to finally look like Colt who he looked up to like a father. However, Colt was shocked, staring at Slade with worry. Colt told him of the day the forest animals found him.

Men with guns arrived. Some animals were shot, trying to defend their territory who they thought were poachers at first. Animals were prepared to flee for their lives, but it was as if the men left almost as soon as they arrived. Numerous species of the forest were alerted to their brisk presence and decided to scope the area after a bit of time passed. They found lifeless infants hardly even buried. Dirt was thrown on top of them in a hurry. In the midst of the tragedy was only one baby still moving. Different species within the forest agreed to look after him and made sure he was protected from predators and given a chance to survive. An animal who was wounded by a gunshot but survived said the people weren’t in regular poacher attire. They wore suits.

After Colt told this truth, Slade has ventured out into the human world, trying to discover more about himself and who he is supposed to be. He even adopted “Colt” as a last name to try to adapt to their society. Unfortunately, the world didn’t appear to be ready for him as he found it hard to adapt to such a lifestyle. His primal-like behavior drove people away. Some even thought he was crazy as he referred to himself as a ‘werewolf’.

It was this inside struggle of his between man and animal that drove Slade to his life of solitude. Over the years, his home territory was slowly cut down, burned and degraded by humans. One of the careless acts of destruction brought to nature costed Slade his father figure, Alpha Colt. After witnessing the destructive power of man ruining his homeland time and time again, he was driven mad with hatred! He couldn’t understand how he could ever be one of them. People who only sought to gain and take rather than live in harmony with their environment baffled him. He now seeks revenge on the human race for their ignorant and destructive nature.

II. Personality

Slade does not speak much, but when he does it is straight to the point and meaningful. He cares mostly about nature and it’s balance. He can sense when there is an imbalance between human consumption and destruction and the replenishing of nature in the world.

III. Abilities, Powers, Skills…

In his human state, Slade has acute hearing, hyper reflexes, faster than an olympic runner, the nose sensitivity of a bloodhound, and is strong enough to lift his own body weight with ease performing acts such as swinging from trees like spider monkeys. He also possesses a sixth sense about danger. He knows immediately when any sort of threat approaches.

Transformed into a werewolf, all of the following abilities he had as a human are increased tenfold. He can hear a whisper from miles away. His reflexes are so instinctively fast it’s as if he acts before an action even occurs – like he has a split second glimpse into the future. His speed is faster than the human eye can see. Smell is so heightened, it’s impossible to completely hide any type of scent from him. He is strong enough to lift a standard truck and throw it. His sixth sense of danger combined with his off-the-chart reflexes, make him extremely difficult to fight along with his lethal bite. Only something faster than his awareness can penetrate his combative prowess.

IV. Allies/ Enemies

Slade’s enemies are those who throw nature out of balance. As someone who sees it as his responsibility to maintain balance in the natural world, Slade does not tolerate people who threaten the balance of the world. His reaction to these people tends to be more than a little ruthless towards these people.

V. Creation and Development

The character Slade was originally created by Leonard Tatum and Jordan Lindsey. Writer Reginald A. was intrigued if a character like Tarzan was adopted into a comic-book like adaptation. He also played with the aspect of how society would treat a person not raised in man-made establishments but back to its primal state before different conformities came to be to fit the everyday lifestyle of an evolving world.

VI. Trivia

Slade prefers a more minimalistic form of huntsman attire which gives him a rather unique appearance. His face is just as grizzled as his attitude and his eyes possess a rather unnerving fiery glow.
