History

Husband to Sophita Yuriko Marshal (Quietess), Waren Marshal is an African American ex weapons manufacturing specialist. As a kid, his father was absent and his mother was mentally ill. His mother barely provided for him with government assistance and grew up in a crime-ridden neighborhood. He was constantly bullied, teased, and harrassed coming home from school. To distract his mind from his impoverished life, he focused on school and loved coming up with ideas for inventions inside of his head. He’d scribble down notes and even draw up sketches of his fictional thoughts. Most of the time, he liked coming up with imaginary weapon ideas. He dreamed of escaping the prison cell he saw as his life with one of them someday.

Growing up, he constantly bickered with his mother as he was the main one supporting the household, due to the fact he was the only one with a job as a teenager. The harassing also got worse from his peers as he would sometimes get robbed after school for his belongings. To have some semblance of control, he joined a dojo so he could at least defend himself against would be attackers walking home from school. There he met Sophita who would change his life forever as they became inseparable.

As an adult, he eventually became a weapons analyst for the CIA, working on a theoretical project for a bio-enhanced weapon. His credentials spoke for itself as he was motivated to finish high school and college early and was picked up by a prestigious weapons manufacturer company fresh out of graduation. Sophita joined the military. Sophita’s reputation for her outstanding mission records gained so much prestige it even became noticed by certain people in the CIA through various connections. Waren was approached by some intelligence officials, telling him if he could ask his wife about joining the special forces. They had kids at home and both worked long hours already in their respective professions. After bringing this concern to the CIA, they assured them she would have plenty of time at home after mission directives were completed.

Both Waren and Sophita were hesitant at first but accepted the offer given to her as they wanted to put their two sons and daughter through college and retire peacefully. Sophita quickly gained an outstanding reputation in the special op missions, granting her the codename Quietus by her superiors. Quietus was an archaic word from Medieval Latin meaning death or something that causes it. Waren’s youngest child was into superheroes. He would sometimes put his own spin on her codename, calling her Quietess whenever she came home. She was a real life heroine in his eyes.

After some time passed, Sophita noticed sharp pains in her back and notified a military doctor. The military doctor said she had multiple contusions within her spinal cord among other issues. He gave her an epidural spinal injection, or so she thought. Waren was there during the procedure and he thought certain aspects of it were strange. The next day she wasn’t only better but able to do things she never could do before such as jump extremely long distances or react faster to hits during combat exercises.

Waren was in shock. These were hypothetical results of the bio-weapon project he worked with the CIA on. Even after years have passed, he was still under the impression they weren’t even close to a prototype. With help from a friend who was a senior analyst, he discovered the project wasn’t only completed some time ago, but the purpose of it was twisted. After more research, he discovered just how deep the corruption in government went from spies being used for political gain to profit being made from crime organizations.

Sophita received a call from Waren one day saying they were planning on erasing her memory, killing her ties, and turning her into the ideal soldier. He even accused her superiors of causing pains in her back in the first place. She thought Waren was going crazy. Waren went home that day. As he opened his door, he witnessed three men in suits attacking his children. Thanks to Waren’s hand-to-hand combat techniques he learned growing up and a few tricks he learned from Sophita, he was able to dispatch the men from threatening his own life but failed to save his kids. Sophita walked in on a horror show as Waren cradled their youngest son in his arms. Warped by the experience, they’ve been on the run from secret entities that would like nothing more than for them to disappear. While on the run, searching for answers of who was responsible for damaging their lives, Sophita also wanted to at least help other areas who were succumbing to government corruption as well. Waren supported her through comms while she became a boogie man known to the criminal underground as Quietess.

After The Guardians were established, with the help of Emeka Idra, silent investors, government agencies, and fundraising, Waren was able to officially introduce The Guardians as a legit organization dedicated to stopping crime and handling world issues. Guardians who did not have a profession as a way to finance their lifestyle respected Waren greatly as they could protect people and make a living out of doing so. Thanks to Aaron’s worldwide reputation, they were able to integrate themselves within law enforcement as first responders to global threats or terrorist attacks considered too problematic for regular responders to deal with. Waren then used his new political standing within The Guardians and used past various connections to get his and Sophita’s records expunged from the C.I.A., so they could live a somewhat relative life without being on the run. However, the heads of Quietess’s secret project don’t stop keeping track of them, which leads to a bigger conspiracy later on.

Waren also becomes the head of the R&D department along with Emeka designated for The Guardians to implement weapons, armory, and other tactical gear for them to utilize when facing a threat. On comms, he works out various strategies for The Guardians to implement to utilize on the field to minimize casualties and property damage all while apprehending the enemy for law enforcement to take into custody.

Personality

Ironically, Waren developed weapons to deter war rather than start one. His inventions involved around jamming gun devices or counteracting the impact of a nuclear explosion among others. Needless to say, he’d rather solve things through negotiation rather than his fists. Violence is a last resort to him.

However, to make sure he can defend himself whenever the time arises, he assists in his wife’s, Sophita’s, training whenever he can. Though always busy with projects or implementing strategies, he always makes time for his wife and mother-in-law. Family is an important aspect of his life he never takes for granted, especially after the passing of his children.

Waren makes sure to develop contingency plans for any and all situations just in case the original plan fails. His active mind has saved Quietess and The Guardians from danger on more than one occasion.

Whenever his wife is in danger, he does not hesitate to save her no matter what threat he faces.

Allies/ Enemies

QuietessProtectorMaximum, other members of The Guardians, trusted government officials and law enforcement officers are all of Waren’s allies.

Because of a sadistic attachment Mime has to Quietess, the Klown Krew and Jackel become prime enemies on Warren’s radar as he suspects they are tracking his wife’s movement somehow. If it wasn’t enough for them to look over their shoulder from secret government associates hunting them down, they also had to be on the lookout for Klown Krew.Jackel becomes an adversary Waren has the most difficulty outwitting since there is no logic behind his motives. it is hard for him to come up with a counter-measure for pure insanity. They are both on opposite sides of a threshold between intelligence and lunacy.

Creation and Development

Waren Marshal is a fictional character from Tatum Games developed and created by Reginald Andah. Though The Guardians are made up of extraordinary individuals whose heroic actions can seem somewhat god-like to citizens who look up to them. Waren grounds them.

His persistent aid reminds these heroes as well as the people who look up to them that they are not invincible. A reminder to the audience even heroes need assistance that doesn’t necessarily need to come from any augmented or supernatural ability – just a helping hand.

Trivia
